May 19, 2014Had I on paper this assess after we owned it for 1 year, I would have given it a 5 star rating. Even if after owning it for 4 years now I would have to give it a 1. In 4 years we have had to have this fridge repaired 4 times, the parts on it are flimsy, there are many small fake parts that have kaput off with just light everyday use. the door never actually clogged by the book and it just keeps contravention down. The fan in the freezer the feeds the ice apparatus is everlastingly getting full of ice which makes the fridge noisey and there have also been harms with the wires that connect the reins in the door. When you open and close the door those wires eventually break and to renovate them is a nightmare. I decided therefore to not review this refrigerator based upon a problem I have yet to run into but upon my feelings having used it for a week now. (The kitchen aid dropped out of the running because the in door ice maker and water dispenser seemed too small to fit a large schooner into. The GE has a great water dispenser however the interior is smaller and my wife disliked the freezer layout with the deep two level bins and the upper bins seemed like they didn't glide as nice as the LG. Also the freezer door on the GE seemed stiffer to open since the LG has that handle that breaks the seal first. Also the LG has an air filter and the lighting in the LG is better.)The LG has a very spacious interior. Once it had cooled for a few hours we transferred our food from the garage fridge into the house. What had been a full fridge easily fit into the new one with room to spare. We like the build quality of the gliding interior drawers as they move in and out very smoothly. The neat little convert able half shelf has already served its purpose storing a bottle of rootbeer. My wife who wasn't completely sure she would like the three tiers of freezer shelves now says she loves it and was glad she decided to go that way.The ice maker makes plenty of ice for our family of 7. I guess we just don't use that much ice per other reviews. I make a green smoothie every morning with a large amount of ice and have yet to run out. Now to be fare I store the excess ice in the little freezer tray every evening so that it has a chance to rekindle at night. After seven days I can stop since the ice maker seems to be able to keep up with plea. The fast ice setting seems to help if you want to get ahead of it.After conception the owners manual I made sure the fridge was level and at least two inches from the back wall. Since doing this the warmth has been consistent. I have had no problems with insufficient cooling. I have also set the fridge at 35 F and the freezer to -6 F. The manual also suggests a freezer of at least -4 for proper ice maker function. I have not yet encountered partially thawed ice that refreezes at these settings.I did have an issue with low water pressure at the water dispenser. I tartan all my lines back to the source and found the ice maker attached to a saddle valve. It distinctly states in the owners manual to not use the self nippy kind. After end off the water and relieving the pressure I removed the crappy valve. Yes it was the self nippy kind. I sweat in a legit T and a proper valve, now I have all the pressure in the world. Now the reason for the four star rating:I have noticed ice crystals forming on some juice concentrate in the door of the freezer and then it is defrosted off to return again a few days end. Now to be fair this only occurs on the items in the door. No where else have I noticed it. Annoying since the freezer of my incredibly cheap fridge in the garage seems to not have this issue. (My wife has just informed me that the other freezer never really kept things on the door that cold anyhow so that was an even worse problem.)The fridge is quiet and yet loud at the same time. There is no rattling compressor. In fact the compressor itself is sweet quiet. Now that said the floor in the kitchen rumbles like there is a truck parked idling across the street. Not a huge deal and it can hardly be heard in any other room. The difference between the loud crowd and those who think it is whisper quiet might be home construction. My kitchen is above a basement, so the wood floor is bound to resonate. A concrete slab may be less app to transfer the noise. I do work in very high end mansions with kitchens that cost more than my home, SubZero and other very high end units sound much the same.All in all we really like the fridge so far and I would recommend it to anyone with our same needsEdit April 2, 2014So far so good. Haven't had any issues. I hardly notice any noise from the compressor these days, even the rumbling doesn't seem as pronounced, even if I might just be used to it. The only thing that catches me now and again is in a quiet kitchen the fan from the built in filter will kick on. This is not an issue, just something I have heard now and again. I will say this there is no noticeable smell in the fridge. The filter must do its job. I have had it long enough to exchange the water filter and the air filter. So far so good. I am idea of maybe installing a large RO unit in the basement and bypassing the filter altogether since I prefer the RO water I get at my sink. Just an idea. Now, I do understand that a lot of people have had problems with this fridge. I do not money off that issues may exist. I, however, have not had any negative issues thus far, and like I said initially, I bought an extended warranty on this unit from a local appliance store that I trust. I purchased a akin warranty for my dishwasher and have had to use that warranty twice already. I am glad I popped for the extra $ in that case since the control panel and a plastic guide were both replaced within six months of purchase. I don't trust appliances, I just buy the one that I think will suit my needs.

I have this unit for about a year. Purchased from HomeDepot in California. it is a very large refrigerator with bounty of space and some good point, maxing storage space space. I just bought this LG after a horrible Frigidaire experience. I don't put a lot of faith in "just installed" reviews for myself, but I can say now that it runs quiet, the shelving does not bow excessively when pressed on to simulate a turkey(I compared them all in the pile at the start - GE had to be the most terrible). The ice maker is noisy single when the cubes decline into the plastic bin. I am thinking of installing a layer of bubble wrap on the bottom to dull the cube impact.As set from the factory, I measured the top frig shelf area running at ~38'F, the bottom shelf runs at 36'F and the freezer at 1'F.I will placement much shortly on how this frig is doing - skilled or bad. I opted for the 5 year warranty from Best Buy just in case given the miserable comments on near all mfg'rs.

We purchased this refrigerator for our rental home on the mainland. The main control panel broke 1 day before the warranty ended, so they replaced that for free. (Of course the warranty does not cover food spoilage.) Now the ice maker is broken, so I will have to engage a repair man to fix it. I'm very disappointed with my purchase, and will by no means buy another LG product. Our previous refrigerator lasted 12+ years.

Nice fridge with freezer drawer that is fairly deep and accommodates enough food storage for my family of 5. The fridge part could be better as far as storage. Maybe if you remove one of the shelves or move them around a bit you could find more space. I tend to be a couple times a week shopper so I don't have alot of food all the time in the house and I have to organize my fridge often to make room. It does have an alarm for when the doors are left open. I love that featured! The icemaker makes large noraml sized square cubes. Overall my opinion is that for its low cost it's an excellent choice as far as aesthetics go and it's fairly quiet. If you are looking for a very large fridge this isn't it! Oh and the front is not magnetic! Only the sides. If you like displaying kids material on you fridge you'll have to pass on this one.

Refrigerator quite noisy. Took a minute to get use to the noise. Ice maker greatly noisier than my old Kitchen Aid refrigerator. Also, I need to call benefit as icemaker frosting up and and spewing ice over bits and pieces in freezer. Would not hold a further LG manufactured goods. Quite disappointed.

The shelves are passionate if two are side-by-side on the same level (if they are NOT on the same level, they are a modest shaky) and they can slide out a few inches to leave room for a tall pot of wine on the shelf below. The diplomatic occasional beep might not alert you to a door left open. The freezer part has good air passage. The shiny black surface doesnt show fingerprints the way stainless steel does. The motor is so silent I planning it wasnt effective! The door bins are clear fake, so you can see what's in them. I did not bed in the ice maker, so cant assess that. When all's said and done I am VERY happy with the LG refrigertor.
