The Dallas Cowboys wont be punished for leaving Tony Romos name off their injury report heading into last seasons Week 16 game in Washington.
Romo played all four quarters of the December game but injured his back in the second half, which required surgery later that month. Jerry Jones and Romo suggested after the game that the quarterbacks back was already injured before he took the field.
At the time, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league would investigate to see if any fines would be handed out.
On Friday, ProFootballTalk.coms Mike Florio reported that Aiello said the Cowboys were informed in April that the NFLs review concluded that there was no violation.
The NFL injury reporting policy states: All players with significant or noteworthy injuries must be listed on the report, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the team is certain that he will play in the upcoming game. This is especially true of key players and those players whose injuries have been covered extensively by the media. This policy is of paramount importance in maintaining the integrity of the NFL.
