I purchased this refrigerator April 2013 and was really happy with it initially. In June, I realized there were rusts spots on the front panel below where the water dispenses starting. I tried to clean it off with the stainless steel cleaner, but it didn't come off. Bottom line response starting GE customer service is that corrode is "ornamental" and not roofed by warranty. Details below:Contacted customer service in June and was told this should definitely not be rusting and that she would send a repair person made known to assess the issue and either replace the entrance or the refrigerator. A repair person came made known, confirmed the corrode. His sanction was that I use baking soda to remove the corrode.I followed up with customer service and talked to a supervisor who didn't know what to recommend until she 'reviewed her notes'. She has been in this position since 1989, yet never heard of this issue until conception up on it? This makes me assume that rusting is not normal and I may have a faulty refrigerator. Her single sanction was to handle the area with baking soda. Her single other offer to me was to buy a extra refrigerator with a discount she would give me!! How often does GE expect customers to purchase extra refrigerators? Every 2 months? My concern is this, will my refrigerator continue to corrode past the warranty and get on to larger, or expand to other areas. The stainless steel appears to be of poor quality, as I don't expect most customers to be satisfied with a rusty refrigerator.I will never buy another GE appliance and I will be sure to let everyone know about my issue.
